Platanthera hyperborea

Northern Green Bog Orchid is a delicate, native terrestrial orchid found in cool northern wetlands, bogs, fens, and moist meadows. This understated beauty produces slender spikes of small green to yellow-green flowers in early to mid-summer. While subtle in colour, the blooms are intricate and elegant up close, making this species especially prized by native plant enthusiasts and conservation gardeners.

Naturally occurring across northern regions of Canada and the United States, this hardy orchid thrives in consistently moist, acidic soils and cooler climates.

Growing From Seed

Orchid seeds are extremely fine and require a symbiotic soil fungus (mycorrhiza) to germinate naturally. Germination without this relationship is very difficult outside laboratory conditions.
