Also known as: Morelle de Balbis, Fire-and-Ice Tomato, or Thorned Tomato.
Litchi Tomato is a unique heirloom plant related to tomatoes and eggplants. It produces small, cherry-sized red fruits with a glossy finish, encased in a spiny husk. Despite its name, the fruit tastes more like a tart cherry tomato with a hint of sweetness of a lychee. The plant itself is highly ornamental, with jagged, deep-green leaves and lots of thorns, making it an effective deer deterrent in the garden.
