Pelargonium spp.

Lavender Geranium is a beautiful, tender perennial prized for its soft lavender flower clusters set against lush, aromatic green foliage. Blooming continuously from late spring until frost, it adds classic charm to containers, window boxes, hanging baskets, and sunny borders.

With its compact, mounding habit and long flowering season, Lavender Geranium is perfect for adding reliable colour and light fragrance to patios and garden spaces.  Geraniums are not frost-hardy but can be overwintered indoors.

Sowing Time

  • Start indoors 10–12 weeks before last frost
  • Not suitable for direct sowing outdoors in Canadian climates

Planting Instructions

  • Surface sow or cover very lightly with fine seed-starting mix
  • Maintain soil temperature of 21–24°C
  • Keep evenly moist but not soggy
  • Germination: 5–10 days
  • Provide bright light after emergence
  • Transplant into larger pots once true leaves develop
  • Harden off before moving outdoors after all risk of frost

Care Tips

  • Sun: Full sun to partial sun
  • Soil: Well-drained, moderately fertile soil
  • Water: Allow top inch of soil to dry between waterings
  • Spacing: 10–14 inches apart
  • Height: 12–16 inches
  • Days to Maturity: 90–110 days from sowing
  • Maintenance: Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering
  • Hardiness: Tender annual in Canada (not frost tolerant)

Overwintering:

  • Bring potted geraniums indoors before frost.
  • Keep in a sunny window or cut back and store in a cool, dark place.
  • Water sparingly over winter, resume care in spring.

Lavender Geranium is a dependable, long-blooming favourite that delivers soft pastel colour and easy-care performance throughout the growing season.
