A classic Halloween favourite! Jack-o'-Lantern pumpkins are medium-sized, round, bright orange fruits perfect for carving. The thick, smooth skin carves easily, while the sturdy flesh helps it hold its shape. Inside, you'll find stringy pulp and plenty of seeds—great for roasting! Though primarily grown for decoration, the flesh can be used for soups and pies if harvested young.

• Shape: Round to slightly flattened

• Colour: Bright orange with defined ribbing

• Vines: Long, vigorous runners—allow plenty of space

• Days to maturity: 100–110 days

Planting Instructions:

• Direct Sow Outdoors: After last frost, when soil is 21°C+ (70°F)

• Start Indoors: 2–4 weeks before last frost (in peat pots to avoid transplant shock)

• Depth: 1 inch (2.5 cm)

• Spacing: 3–5 feet (1–1.5 m) between hills or plants

• Sunlight: Full sun

• Watering: Deep, consistent watering (avoid wetting leaves)

• Fertilizer: Benefit from compost-rich soil and occasional feeding

Harvesting:
Pick when the pumpkin is a deep orange colour and the rind is hard. Cut with a few inches of stem remaining for better storage.
